Learn how to make an origami basket with handle using these easy to follow instructions. While you can definitely use regular, white, rectangular paper, it’s best to use square, origami paper with a color or pattern on one side.

Step 1: Start with a square piece of origami paper, color side up. If you only have regular rectangular paper, follow instructions on how to make origami paper.

Step 2: Fold the left half to the right, then unfold.

Step 3: Fold the top half down.

Step 4: Fold the top right corner down the center.

Step 5: Turn the paper over.

Step 6: Again, fold the top right corner down the center.

Step 7: Open the bottom of the triangle and squash fold.

Step 8: Rotate the paper so the opening is on top.

Step 9: Grab the first layer and fold the top half down, crease well, then unfold.

Step 10: Fold the top corner down to the center.

Step 13: Like before, fold the top half down, crease well, then unfold.

Step 14: Like before, fold the top corner down the center, then continue folding the entire flap down.

Step 15: Fold the top layer of the left flap over to the right.

Step 16: Turn the paper over.

Step 17: Again, fold the top layer of the left flap over to the right.

Step 18: Fold the top left edge to the center, crease well, then unfold.

Step 19: Fold the left corner and the bottom edge to the crease you just made.

Step 20: Now fold in the left of the crease to the right.

Step 21: Like before, fold the top right edge to the center, crease well, then unfold.

Step 22: Fold the right corner to the crease.

Step 23: Fold the right side of the crease to the left.

Step 24: Turn the paper over.

Step 25: Let’s do both sides at the same time to shorten the instructions. Fold both outside edges to the center, crease well, then unfold.

Step 26: Fold both outside corners to the creases.

Step 27: Fold both outside edges to the center.

Step 28: Fold the left flap over to the right.

Step 29: Turn the paper over.

Step 30: Again, fold the left flap over to the right.

Step 31: Fold the bottom triangle up, crease well, then unfold.

Step 32: Open up the pocket and use both hands to form a square box. Flatten the bottom of the basket into a square so it can stand on its own.

Step 33: Glue one tip of the handle over the other.
