How to Make an Origami Chomper

PinFollow these instructions to make an origami chomper.
Difficulty: Medium

Some people call it an origami snapper and some call it Pacman, but I like to call it a chomper because it makes this origami sound hungrier and with bigger and sharper teeth. Rowrr!

The origami chomper is made with rectangular paper instead of square origami paper and is very easy to fold. As we fold this, you may recognize some origami shapes like the hat and boat, but eventually we’ll mold it into this awesome chomper.

Step 1: Get out a piece of regular 8.5×11 rectangular paper.

Step 2: Fold the paper in half by folding the left side over to the right side, then unfold.

Step 3: Fold the paper in half again by folding the top edge to the bottom edge.

Step 4: Fold the top left and right corners to the middle to form a sort of triangle.

Step 5: Take the top layer of the bottom rectangular flaps and fold it up.

Step 6: Turn the figure over.

Step 7: Fold up the remaining bottom rectangular flap.

Step 8: Open up the base of the triangle all the way until the figure becomes the shape of a diamond.

Step 10: Turn the figure over.

Step 11: Like step 9, fold the bottom corner up to the top corner. You should now have a triangle.

Step 12: Like step 8, open the base of the triangle all the way until the figure becomes the shape of a diamond.

Step 13: Grab the top corners of the left and right side and pull apart to form a boat shape with a “sail” sticking out in the center.

Step 14: Open a flap on one side and tuck the “sail” inside to hide it.

Step 15: Hold the back side of the “boat” and squeeze the opposite ends together to make the chomper bite.
