Difficulty: Medium
This is a very cute origami dog that’s not too hard to make. There are a couple of tricky folds, but I’ve provided some very good instructions and pictures to guide you. I recommend using two sided origami paper with different colors on each side, that way the ears and nose will be of a different color. That just makes the origami dog cuter and cooler.
Step 1: Start with a square piece of origami paper. If you only have regular 8.5×11 paper,
follow these instructions to make a square sheet.
Step 2: Fold the paper in half by folding the left edge over to the right.
Step 3: Unfold.
Step 4: Fold the paper in half again, but this time folding the top edge to the bottom.
Step 5: Unfold and tilt the paper.
Step 6: Fold the bottom corner to the center.
Step 7: Fold the left corner to the center.
Step 8: Fold the right corner to the center.
Step 9: Turn the paper over and flip it upside down.
Step 10: Fold the right edge to the center. Let the flap in the back come out.
Step 11: Also fold the left edge to the center. Again, let the flap in the back come out.
Step 12: Open the upper right corner and squash to the right (like you see in the three pictures in this step).
Step 13: Squash fold the upper left corner also.
Step 14: Lift up the flap in the back and fold the top in half.
Step 15: Turn the paper over and tilt it 90° counter clockwise.
Step 16: Beginning at the left side of the top triangle, fold the left side in half diagonally. Don’t fold pass the crease below it.
Step 17: Unfold.
Step 18: Repeat the fold in Step 16 for the bottom.
Step 19: Unfold.
Step 20: Fold the entire figure in half from bottom corner to top corner.
Step 21: Unfold. We’re almost done!
Step 22: Pinch the right side of the figure in half and lift it up.
Step 23: Fold the top and bottom triangle and crease the base of the flap until it stands vertically.
Step 24: Bend the flap upwards.
Step 25: Take the whole flap and bend it back.
Step 26: Fold down the top triangle flaps.
Step 27: Let’s work on the tail. Fold down the tail like in the picture.
Step 28: Unfold.
Step 29: Now do an inside reverse fold to make the tail. Basically open the rear a little and bend the tail flap down at the crease. Curve the tip up and close the rear, creasing the tail.
Step 30: Fold the top flap to the left, unfold, and fold it and fold it behind. This is so we can get a good crease.
Step 31: Bring the top flap to the original position.
Step 32: Open the top flap at the crease and bend down the top.
Step 33: Bend the top down and crease the sides of the flap to form the head.
Step 34: Create the muzzle by doing an inside reverse fold.
Basically open the head and bend parts of the triangle in, and bend another part out, then close.
Step 35: Make the nose with an outside reverse fold. Open the muzzle and curl the corner up, then close.
Step 36: Let’s make the tail thinner. Fold a portion of the rear inside and crease.
Step 37: Woof! You’re done!.
