PinFollow the instructions below to make this Origami Fish
Difficulty: Medium

As you can tell, this origami fish is remarkable in its form. However, it looks even better in real life. What you can’t see here are the gills below the head that causes it to fan out more, thus causing it to generally appear more lifelike than other fish models.

This origami fish overall is pretty straightforward, but there are a couple of awkward yet simple folds. If you’re looking for a very easy origami fish, click on that link. However, if you’re looking for one that looks good, but is not too plain or too complex, this one is perfect.

Step 1: Start with a square piece of origami paper. If you only have regular 8.5×11 paper,
follow these instructions to make it into a square sheet.

Step 2: Fold the paper in half by folding the left corner to the right corner.

Step 3: Fold in half again by folding the top corner to the bottom corner.

Step 4: Fold the left corner to the right edge as shown, then unfold.

Step 5: Fold the upper layer diagonally as shown. Make sure to leave a portion of the right corner unfolded.

Step 6: Turn the figure over vertically. The lower left corner of the triangle you touch the crease in the center of the flap. Make adjustments if necessary.

Step 7: Fold parts of the triangle down over the lower flap. Your figure should look like this.

Step 10: Let’s finish the tail fin. The tail has two layers. Pull out the inside layer to reflect the fin above.

Step 12: Do the same for the flap behind.

Step 13: Unfold the front flap and inside reverse fold it as shown. Don’t pull it all the back, but pull it about 1/3rd behind the corner of the above triangle.

Step 15: Take the top layer of the lower left triangle and fold it up, then unfold. The crease helps for the next step.

Step 22: Fold the fin on the other side. Complete! Throw it in the water and watch it swim! Just kidding. It’s just going to get wet and you’ll have to fold another one.
