I was looking for a stem to attach the hydrangea origami flower, but couldn’t find any so I made one myself. Just like the actual hydrangea stems, this origami flower stem will allow you to attach two flowers to it to form a bouquet. Neat huh?
Step 1: Start with a square piece of origami paper with white side up. If you only have regular 8.5×11 paper, follow these instructions to make it into a square sheet.
Step 2: Fold the upper left corner to the lower right corner, then unfold.
Step 3: Now fold the upper right corner to the lower left corner, then unfold.
Step 4: Fold the top half backwards, bending at the “X” crease, then unfold.
Step 5: Poke the center with your finger so that it pops in.
Step 6: Bring the creases on the side to meet at the center to collapse the paper into a triangle.
Step 7: Rotate the paper so it’s upside down.
Step 8: Fold the triangle in half, then unfold.
Step 9: Fold the left and right edges of the top layer to the center as shown.
Step 10: Fold the top left and right edges to the center as shown.
Step 11: Once again, fold the top left and right edges to the center to make the top thinner.
Step 12: Turn the figure over.
Step 13: Repeat Steps 9-11 on this side. There should be four prongs, a pair on the front and a pair on the back.
Step 14: Slide one pair of prongs into the sides of the origami flower.
Step 15: Slide the other pair of prongs into the sides of another origami flower. Make more for a bouquet of hydrangeas!
