This Pet Dragon is designed by Eric Ha. It likes to stick close to you so it doesnt fly too far or too long. It likes to just launch out, do some twists, turns, or loops to hunt for tiny bugs and end its flight, sometimes by returning to you!
Step 1: Start with a regular piece of rectangle paper that’s 8.5 x 11.0 inches (215.9 x 279.4 mm).
Step 2: Fold the top edge to the right edge. Make the top right corner as pointy as possible.
Step 3: Fold the top corner down to the left corner to make a triangle.
Step 4: Turn the paper over.
Step 5: Fold up the bottom flap below the triangle. Run your fingernail across the crease to make a sharp crease because we’re going to tear it off.
Step 6: Unfold the bottom flap.
Step 7: Cut off the bottom flap. You may tear it off instead if you used your fingernail to sharpen the crease.
Step 8: Unfold everything.
Step 9: Rotate the paper into a diamond.
Step 10: Fold the top corner down to the center of the paper.
Step 11: Fold the top two corners down to the center.
Step 12: Hold the top half and find the crease on the back of the paper.
Step 13: Fold the top down at the crease on the back of the paper to make a triangle.
Step 14: Fold up the triangle at about a thumb’s width from the top edge.
Step 15: Turn the paper over.
Step 16: Fold the tip down to about the halfway point after the crease. This will be the dragon’s “horn”.
Step 17: Turn the paper over.
Step 18: Fold the left half to the right.
Step 19: Fold the wing by folding the red arrows together.
Step 20: Turn the paper over. Almost done!
Step 21: Fold this wing to line up with the first wing.
Step 22: Fold the wing again along the red line. The line should begin where the head and the wings meet, and the tip of the tail. The tail part may be hard to fold, so use your fingernail to help.
Step 23: Turn the paper over.
Step 24: Fold this wing to line up with the other wing.
Step 25: Unfold the wing again.
Step 26: Fold the wing again, but this time bringing the red arrows together.
Step 27: Turn the paper over.
Step 28: Unfold this wing.
Step 29: Fold this wing like step 26. Fold this wing to match the other wing.
Step 30: Open up the wings. Now let’s get ready to fly!
Step 31: Straighten up the wings a bit so that it looks like this when you’re holding the dragon at the bottom base.
Step 32: Hold this part of the dragon and throw it up at an angle or straight up into the air.
